Laundry is one of the most tedious, monotonous, and mundane household chores. And you can’t get away from it because it’s always there. Then, when you think you’ve caught up, the cycle begins all over again.
I’m not perfect at keeping up with the launderette all of the time, but there are weeks when I feel like I’m Queen of the Laundry Room and can handle any stain or pile of clothes with ease. Then there are weeks when I feel like I’m drowning in dirty laundry and pray that the dryer will hurry up so that my kids have clean underwear to wear to school.
These are the laundry tips and ideas that have shown to be effective for me. But, of course, I’m still not perfect, and I’m still working on it, so these laundry hacks are probably relevant to me as well.
Smart Laundry Tips To Keep Your Laundry On Top
#1 – Use a Divided Laundry Sorter:
If you have kids, then these laundry tips will benefit you. However, you’ll be in such good shape around your house if you don’t do anything else on this list but make this one simple change! I used to have hampers in every single bedroom, and when I finally got around to gathering it all, I’d end up with a massive mountain of laundry. Then I had to sort it all out, and looking at those gigantic stacks in my hallway was going to spoil my day.
It felt like there would be so much to do! It’s a simple change, but it’ll make your life so much easier! THESE LAUNDRY HACKS MAKE MY TASK MORE MANAGEABLE whenever I send clothes to the laundry services.
#2 – Use the Colour Code Tag:
I also printed and cut down some colour coded tags on paper (print the ones I used here), then stapled them to the bags. That way, all my kids have to do is match the colours on the text to figure out where to put their laundry. So even before they can read, they are responsible for arranging their clothes in the sorter. You’d be amazed how happy the kids are–they enjoy putting things in the appropriate place!

#3 – Sort Your Laundry As It Collects:
It’s convenient to put dirty clothes in the correct container as they gather. Also, because you choose a full bin, you’ll know which load of clothes to throw in the washing machine when you leave the house in the morning (see tip above). These laundry sorters are available without the bar, but I like having an extra place to hang items when they come out of the dryer.
#4 – Don’t Wash Anything More Than Is Necessary:
When my kids were younger, no matter what we wore in the morning, it was always dirty, coated in something sticky or crusty by the end of the day. My kids are a little older now, so they don’t get everything they wear dirty every time they put it on.
They can get a few more wears out of their jeans, jammies, sweatshirts, and church clothing before having to wash them. The same can be said about me. Over time, these items might add up to a lot of washing. Hang them up and wear them again if they aren’t dirty. Of course, if they’re dirty, wash them!
#5 – Organise Your Closets and Dressers Regularly:
Once a year, I like to clean out my closet. I get rid of clothes that I haven’t worn in a long time or no longer fit. I try to go through my children’s clothes twice a year and get rid of outgrown items. Because children grow so quickly, you may need to do this more frequently.
Laundry is much easier to put away when your closets and drawers are organised, especially for little children. They’ll be frustrated, and so will you, if they’re trying to cram things into their drawers to make them fit. Ensure that everything has a place and isn’t overloaded with items that don’t belong.

#6 – Have Many Fitted Sheets On Hand:
I have at least two fitted sheets for each bed in our house. When it’s time to clean the bedding, things are more manageable. Remove the old sheets and replace them with fresh ones. It means you’re not in a rush to clean the dirty ones, and you may fold them right after they come out of the dryer and store them in the linen closet. It can also save your sanity if you have an accident in the middle of the night. You’ll already have a clean pair of sheets ready to put on your bed.
